Transforming a space can start with a few simple updates or it can be a complete remodel. There are a few key questions to ask yourself before you begin. First of all, how do you use your space? Has your lifestyle changed? If the answer to either of these is yes, then if may be time for an update.
The easiest way to begin the process is to get the urge to purge! I know this can be difficult, as we get attached to mementos from the past, items that have been given to us, or things we simply don’t know what to do with. Be ruthless. I promise you, you will feel great what it’s done!
Can’t decide what to keep and what to throw out? Get a trusted friend to help you. He or she knows you, but can be that critical outside opinion that helps you decide when you start to dither over what to keep and what to toss.
Next, choose an overall theme, or an ambience. What feeling in the room resonates with you? Are you interested in a more coastal, relaxed look? Or is a tropical, look more of what you are after? Or should you consider a stately, elegant look that shows off those antiques you have. Perhaps you want to showcase a more chic and modern look modern look. There is no right answer. The new look for your room can be as unique as you.
